I surely believe in that idea for 2 main reasons:1)because Art isn't something that developed from zero ,but it is basically the expression of our feelings ,or else, a form of communication between the creator and the ART lover.Sometimes,especially during harsh periods in the past,ART was the means by which the creator expressed his opinion(usually dissapointment) about what was happening
2)From what i know, mother nature is quite wise,to destroy everything that's uneccessary....Thus,if ART was something uneccessary why,then,is still ''surviving''?

art is an aquired taste...not everyone appreciates or expresses it, so I'd say no it's not a necessity.

When painting you ahve a blank slate, that is zero...who you portray your emotions onto the canvas or whatever you create is a reflection of our feelings/thoughts.

A Poet writes a poem, yet the reader may interpret that poem they way they choose to. It may not be the same as poet, but it still hold the same significance to each.

art does not portray an opinion & is definitely not only caused by disappointment...lots of feeling/emotion can go into art...there is a pig in Virginia that paints (Smithfield).

A stop sign is a pain in the arse! As for art? well that's the first I've heard it called so. To me it's a warning that if I don't stop the car at this intersection, I might have a crash and die...or cause an accident...maybe even fluke getting through the crossing unscathed.

I think art is the most wonderful talent a person can have because it is something very expressive and close to heart....it is not a necessity but without it life would be very dull.....I mean today anywhere we go we find banks, hospitals and theatres full of many artistic works....I cannot imagine any of these buildings without any vibrant art pieces.......my conclusion would be that life is not just about bare necessities but sometimes we all need a colourful, cheerful,emotional view to appreciate life....

Pleonasms are unnecessary, why didn't nature destroy them ? :)

Well, look at soccer. Are all those competitions necessary ? Of course not. They are entertainment. Same goes for art: it has the main purpose of pleasing the others with beauty and originality.
